Performance
The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower. It gets the job done, and you can also get the optional turbocharged inline-four, which contributes 180 horsepower with only a 1.6-liter engine. The optional four-cylinder offers better acceleration than the base engine because it is turbocharged. The performance-oriented N Line trim offers a 290 horsepower turbo-four. All engines come standard with an eight-speed automatic, except the 290 horsepower engine, which is mated with an eight-speed dual-clutch.
If you choose the turbo-four or the base four-cylinder engine, you'll have an estimated gas mileage rating of 32 mpg combined. Ratings will drop when you opt for the 290-horsepower turbo-four, but it's worth it. This sedan is just as athletic as many anticipated, and it boasts composed handling, which enables it to tackle meandering roads with ease. Its excellent braking system doesn't let down when cruising on steep roads. The N Line trim is perfect to consider if you enjoy plenty of performance from your Union sedan.
Safety
The new Sonata ensures you have a confident and safe ride by coming standard with plenty of driver assistant features. Adaptive cruise control is among them, and it uses advanced tech to determine the speed of your vehicle in proximity to the other cars. It also has the authority to send warning signals if the driver gets too close. Driver drowsiness monitoring is another safety component you'll come across. A rearview camera, lane centering assist and pedestrian detection are standard in the lineup, so is the forward collision warning.
Technology
The Sonata comes with a user-friendly interface that is not hard to learn. It doesn't offer mamy physical knobs since most tech features are operated via the touchscreen. They are two, one being standard and the other optional. The standard one is an 8-inch display, whereas a 10-inch display is also available. Pairing your device with the touchscreen is simple, and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ make the pairing process easy. BlueLink® telematics system, a digital gauge cluster, Hyundai's digital key, and wireless device charging are other tech features accompanying Sonata's infotainment system.
Interior
A well-equipped cabin accompanies the interior of this car. The cabin features a heated steering wheel, cupholders-front and rear, an illuminated locking glove box, a complete cloth headliner and much more. It can accommodate up to five passengers. Whichever row you sit in, you'll still get great outward visibility. You can also opt for a head-up display.
